Amer Fort
The most prominent attraction of Jaipur is the Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort. It was built by Man Singh I in late 15th century. Some places like Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), Diwan-i-Am and Sukh Niwas make the fort more breathtaking and awe-inspiring. The best way to reach the fort is by an Elephant Ride over the hills, where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the city. Remember, elephant rides can be experienced only in the mornings and you should reach on time to avoid standing in the queue. City Palace
The City Palace is located in the centre of Jaipur and dotted with gardens, courtyards and buildings. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in the 17th century and since then, it is the royal residence of the rulers of Jaipur. The Mubarak Mahal welcomes and greets its guest in the royal style. Chandra Mahal within the city palace complex is also a significant building.
Hawa Mahal
The Hawa Mahal is a five-storey red sandstone structure which was built by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1799. The shape of the building resembles with the crown of Lord Krishna- the Hindu god. A building has 953 windows or jharokhas to enable the royal women to see outside streets without being seen to outsiders. The architecture was built with Rajput and Mughal style. The Mahal is also known as Palace of Winds due to the passage of cool breeze from the honeycombed windows.
Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar is the largest astronomical observatory in India. In total, there are 5 observatories located at Delhi, Jaipur, Ujjain, Mathura and Varanasi. This instrument helps in the calculation of time and prediction of Solar Eclipses & Monsoons. It can also track the position of the moon, the sun and the stars. The observatory is still used by scholars for astronomical study. This site is also one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Jal Mahal
The Jal Mahal was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the 18th century. It is a 5 –storey building, lying beneath the Man Sagar Lake. When the lake is full of water during monsoons, then the first floor get submerged into the lake. This attraction is also known as Water Palace.
